30 August 2012 "Heartbreak"
Heartbreak tastes like
chocolate dipped soft served vanilla ice cream from Arctic Circle eaten by a
third wheel.
Heartbreak
tastes like Halloween candy, not your favorite, but his.
Heartbreak
sounds like the repetitive piano chords of Owl City’s “Hello Seattle”, learned
and practiced just for him.
Heartbreak
sounds like his voice saying that magic word—your name.
Heartbreak
looks like hopeful posts on a Facebook wall, posts that will forever remain in
cyberspace, hopeful and unanswered.
Heartbreak
looks like a single text message asking for your best friend’s number.
Heartbreak
smells like a smoky bonfire and crushed autumn leaves.
Heartbreak
smells like chlorine and hotel rooms.
Heartbreak
feels like a million hopeful butterflies set free in your stomach when you hear
someone claim the two of you would be great together.
Heartbreak
feels like hot tears cascading silently down innocent cheeks when the
realization finally comes crashing down: he will never like me back.
