For this marketing company I worked as a contributing writer/editor for four months from May 2014-August 2014. The final edit of the article can be found here: http://jigsawmarketingsolutions.com/blog/dos-and-donts-of-social-media/
In 2014, social media has taken the world
by storm. Businesses now have the ability to personally reach out to and
communicate with their clients on a daily basis. In addition, social media can
be used to network with other business professionals and to bring team members
together. Even though social media sites like Twitter and Facebook have been
around for less than a decade, it is easy to see how essential they have become
in the business world today.
Though the style and frequency of posting
on social media may vary between businesses, there are a few tips that apply
universally.
DO
·
Respond to negative and
positive feedback
·
Try new things
·
Be proactive
·
Thank new followers
·
Mix up your content - 80/20
Content Mix [Post content that is relevant to your audience (attention
grabbing, social, helpful) 80% of the time and self-promoting content 20% of
the time.]
·
Find the social media network
that is right for you
·
Plan ahead
DON’T
·

·
Upload anything you wouldn’t
want everyone to see
·

·

·
Don’t forget to find your
social voice
Remember, social media is meant to enhance
your business, interact with clients, and build a professional networking base.
